Eye Contact, Vauldalen, Norway, 2015

Foxes are opportunists and they easily habituate to the presence of people if they find food nearby inhabited areas. One day in May 2015 I was sitting at the table in our mountain cabin drinking my morning coffee, when I saw a red fox passing by.

He seemed to be confident, so I suppose he has been offered food regularly at other cabins in our neighborhood. Looking at the skinny fox I went to the window, and couldn't resist giving him some food from our fridge. When he was ready with his breakfast, he sit down in front of the window, staring at me in the living room. This was the first time I saw him, and, for my surprise, he never returned again.
